Admission Passes Available at Muhlenberg Community Library

These passes are free to borrow with your library card. All passes must be checked out and returned at the circulation desk of Muhlenberg Community Library. (Passes may not be returned in the library drop box.) Passes circulate for 1 week at a time and are not eligible for renewal.

Overdue fines and lost pass fees will apply to accounts with late returns or missing passes. (Generally, overdue fines are $1.00 per day with a $10.00 maximum. Lost pass fees will be equivalent to the cost of purchasing and processing a replacement pass.)

Passes are limited to 1 checkout per adult account at a time. Most passes will admit 1 family per pass and may provide discounts for additional activities at the museum sites. (Please see the pass for specific details about admission and discounts given to the museum that you are interested in.) *Pass availability is subject to change depending on factors such as pass expiration dates, cost of renewal, how often a pass circulates, etc.

The Historical Society of Berks County operates the Berks History Center as a museum and library located in Reading. 

The Public Library Household Pass admits all persons in one household free admission to the museum.

This pass circulates for 1 week and gives 1 family free admission to the Berks History Museum (family) and the Henry Janssen Library (adults only.) "Family" is defined as up to 6 people living at the same address.

The Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles preserves and educates about our local road transportation history.

The pass is valid for free admission during regular hours: 9:30 AM- 4:00 PM, Monday through Sunday, excluding major holidays. Each pass may be used for free admission of 2 adults and up to 3 children.

The Brandywine Museum of Art is a museum of regional and American art located on U.S. Route 1 in Chadds Ford, on the banks of the Brandywine Creek. The museum showcases the work of Andrew Wyeth, a major American realist painter.

Pass admits 4 guests free to the Brandywine Conservancy and Museum of Art.

Eastern State Penitentiary was once the most famous and expensive prison in the world, but stands today in ruin, a haunting world of crumbling cellblocks and empty guard towers. Its vaulted, sky-lit cells held nearly 85,000 people over its long history, including bank robber "Slick Willie" Sutton and "Scarface" Al Capone.

This pass may be borrowed to access free daytime historic tour admission to Eastern State for up to six people.

Pass is not valid for Summer NightsHalloween Nights, discounts, special events or facility rentals. Eastern State’s programming is best enjoyed by children ages seven and older. Admission is complimentary for children under seven years old.

Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown, is home to dozens of wild and endangered species.

The pass provides free admission for 2 adults and 6 children. It also gives a 10% discount off in the Lenore Weiss Nature Shop and discounts on attractions such as giraffe feeding tickets and carousel ride tickets.

The Everhart Museum of Natural History, Science & Art is a non-profit art and natural history museum located in Nay Aug Park in Scranton.

This gallery showcases a one of a kind collection consisting of over 230 objects by Lancaster County artisans including tall case clocks, silver, furniture and portraiture created during Edward Hand’s residency in America and the period interpreted at Rock Ford (c.1765-1810). 

This pass is valid during regular Snyder Gallery hours and admits a maximum of 4 people; 1 must be a supervising adult. It is not valid for any special event that requires a reservation, does not apply to group rates, and cannot be used for commercial or for-profit purposes. This pass does not include admission to guided tours of the General Edward Hand Mansion. Pass can only be used once during the one week circulation period.

The Snyder Gallery is open for self-guided tours from April through November. The John J. Snyder Jr. Gallery is open Tuesday-Friday and Sunday from 10:00AM—4:00PM, and Saturday from 10:00AM—2:00PM during our open tour season (April—November 17th). Please check the website for the most up-to-date hours.

The Mercer Museum is a museum located in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. The Bucks County Historical Society operates the Mercer Museum, the Research Library, and Fonthill Castle, the former home of the museum's founder, archeologist Henry Chapman Mercer.

Pennsbury Manor is William Penn's Country Estate in Bucks County. William Penn is the founder and proprietor of the Colony of Pennsylvania. He lived at the manor from 1699 to 1701.

The Railroad Museum preserves and educates the rich heritage of railroading in Pennsylvania, and the nation. See historically significant railroad equipment, artifacts, books, photographs and other archival materials.

This pass provides the following privileges:
Free admission for 2 adults and 4 children to the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania (may not apply to certain special events.)
Discounts on the Whistle Stop Shop Museum store purchases and museum rambles and some programs.
Reduced admission at any other Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission site.

The Reading Public Museum is a museum in Reading, Pennsylvania, along the Wyomissing Creek. The museum's permanent collection mainly focuses on art, science, and civilization and contains over 280,000 objects. It also has a planetarium and a 25-acre arboretum.

Pass provides free general admission for 2 adults and 4 children to the museum, as well as a discount of $1 per person for planetarium shows. This pass is not valid for special events or programs.

Muhlenberg Community Library has several special collections, including Autism, Literacy, Spanish/Bilingual and Local History.

Autism Collection

The Autism Collection was created through a partnership between Muhlenberg Community Library and The Autism Society of Berks.

The collection includes picture books and juvenile fiction and non-fiction titles.

The bulk of the collection includes adult non-fiction titles for parents, caregivers and teachers . 

There are also several books dealing with Tourette Syndrome and other learning differences.

Literacy Collection

This collection includes materials to assist patrons learn English, improve reading, and prepare for the GED and the US Citizenship Test.

ESL series for English Language Learners, monolingual and bilingual Oxford Picture Dictionaries and also Comprehensive ReadingWise Strategies texts from the Literacy Council of Reading-Berks are available.

If you are looking for high interest/low readability items, you will enjoy the Townsend Collection of fiction and non-fiction books.
